Suggestions to brides and grooms when you're choosing your wedding photographer:
1.) First and foremost, be sure that your photographer is PPA (Professional Photographers of America) certified.
It’s the only insurance that photographers can have. (Yes, I do have it!) I’m sure you’re wondering why you
should care about this, well I’ll tell you. It’s the digital age, our cameras’ are computers and computers can let
us down from time to time. Images can be lost (corrupted). With PPA I am backed by professional forensics
that will retrieve the images for me. If they for some reason can’t recover the images I am covered up to
$10,000 to recreated the event. Which would be very important if it were to happen during a wedding.
Without the insurance it cost thousands of dollars to utilize the professional forensics. Please make sure that
your photographer is covered by the PPA so that your investment is protected.
2.) Be sure your photographers’ personality messes well with you and your fiancé. This is very important,
as your photographer will be a big part of your wedding day.
3.) If you are doing your family portraits in the church, be sure that your photographer takes portable
lights with them. Without the portable lights your images may appear dark and everyone may not be lit evenly.
4.) Be sure to see an entire wedding that the photographer has photographed. They may have a few great
images, but you want to make sure that they do a great job capturing the entire day.
5.) When looking at the photographers images be sure to look closely at the wedding dress. Almost all
dresses have detail in them; if you can’t see the detail, that means that they didn’t properly expose for
the image. Which means chances are if you hire them, you probably won’t see the detail in your dress.
6.) Make sure that your photographer has backup equipment incase any of their equipment malfunctions.
7.) Look at the individual print cost for after your wedding. Make sure that it fits in you and your families budget.
8.) Be sure that your photographer uses a professional printing lab. If your photographer doesn’t use a
professional lab, the quality of the prints isn’t going to last very long. Over the years your images will
fade and may change color. The quality of paper that is used is very important. The lab that I use is
Millers Professional Imaging, they guarantee no fading or color change in the images for 100 years.
I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m giving you all of these pointers. Well, it’s because most people don’t
know what to look for when choosing a photographer. There really is a difference in the quality of images
you will receive depending on which photographer you choose. If you decide not to book with me, I want to
make sure that you are taken care of. You only get married once. After your special day is over all you
have left are memories, which will fade over time. So be sure that you invest in a fabulous photographer
that will capture your day with professional standards so that you have beautiful images to remind you
of your wedding for generations to come.
