I was born and raised in Dubuque, IA. I went to Hempstead High School my freshmen and sophomore
years and Platteville my junior and senior years. After high school I went to Madison Area
Technical College for Commercial Art. After the first year I decided that it wasn't for me;
so I enrolled into the photography program. There was a two year waiting list to get into the
program, so I moved back home and got a job at the Telegraph Herald as a photo technician
as well as a sport photographer. After working there for two years, I returned to Madison
to pursue my degree in Photography. While I went to school I worked at a photo lab called
Burne Photo Imaging. I did a good portion of the printing for the professional photographers
that they worked with. I lived in Madison for about 8 years. During that time I worked in several
photo related jobs; one being Inside Wisconsin Sports Magazine. The freelance work that I
did for them allowed me to cover Badger basketball and football. I had the honor of
photographing the Badgers against the Hawks! I also had the honor of photographing the winter
Olympics in Green Bay as well as the Curling finals for the Olympics!
With all that I have done, I have acquired eleven years of professional experience and an
Associates Degree in Photography from Madison Area Technical College.
My area of excellence is photographing in natural light. Props and backgrounds are kept to a minimum
in attempt to capture a familiar expression. If you are sick of the run of the mill "sit and smile" shots,
I'm the photographer for you!
In 2003, at the Wisconsin News Photographers Association Convention, I won five of forty awards given;
with over 500 entries.
I have done photography work for the following:
Telegraph Herald, Wisconsin State Journal, Budweiser, Ludovissy and Associates, Grahams, New York Life
Hormel, Five Flags, Cheryl Ann Bridal's, Fringe, 180 Main, The Julien and Inside Wisconsin Sports Magazine.
Also, one of my images was chosen for the cover of Iowa's Event Planner, which is sold at Barnes and Nobel.
I specialize in the following areas: Weddings, kids, seniors, boudoir sessions, families and sports.
Photographing children is a great pleasure for me, as I was a preschool teacher for 2 years while
I was going to college for photography. I find "posing" people boring; it's not what people really
look like. I will guide my clients to an extent, but my goal as a photographer is to capture lifes' special
moments. I want my clients to look at the images that I captured and think, "Wow that really looks like
my son, daughter, ect." I want my photo shoots to be fun for everyone; myself as well as my clients.
If you choose me as your wedding photographer you will be in good hands. I take great pride in my
weddings; as I do with all of my work. I photograph my weddings as if they were my own. My brides
write the script for their day, and I capture it as it unravels. Leaving my clients with their story to
remember through their beautiful images.
